Jeep Tours at Glenwood Canyon Resort
For exciting Vail Colorado whitewater rafting adventure, look to Rock Gardens Rafting. On the Colorado River in dramatic Glenwood Canyon, we’re an easy hour drive west of Vail on scenic I-70, right around the corner from historic Glenwood Springs. Call Rock Gardens Rafting toll free 1-800-958-6737 or the local telephone number 970-945-6737. Because the local Recreation Department runs the Vail Nordic Center, you can cross-country ski for free. The terrain is nearly flat, with the gentlest undulations, as might be expected because you are on a golf course (park free behind the golf clubhouse). While you ski, the view is of the jagged Gore Range, which looks like the Swiss Alps. The trails lead east and west under the villas, townhouses and palaces of Vail.
Vail Nordic Center
The Vail Nordic Center offers plenty of cross-country rental skis plus pricey lessons by first-rate instructors.
Vail Bowls are Unparallelled Options in the Rockies
Vail now has so many vast alpine slopes and wide boulevards, so many downhill trails angling in all directions and spread across several mountains, that you will still be discovering new areas even after a month of exploration on skis. Many visitors feel most exalted and tuned-in to these mountains when they ski the vast Vail bowls. Their number remains unparalleled in the Rockies, a veritable orgy of slopes. The best known are the China Bowl and the Teacup, Siberia and Mongolia Bowls.
